You may be able to achieve better search results by selecting different words and phrases for your search statement.
If you are doing keyword searching, look carefully at the titles or in the abstracts of several items from your search results that you consider to be highly relevant. See if there are other words and phrases used there that you can incorporate into a new search statement.
If you are doing subject heading searching, look carefully at the subject headings that were assigned to several items from your search results that you consider to be highly relevant. See if there are subject headings used there that you can incorporate into a new search statement. Another strategy is to consult the subject heading list, or thesaurus, used by the database. There may be suggestions provided of broader, narrower, or related subject headings that you can incorporate into a new search statement.
If you are doing natural language searching, look carefully at the titles or abstracts of several items from your search results that you consider to be highly relevant. Try incorporating some of the words and phrases used there in a new search query.
