rand-mcnally road atlas   Most familiar of the geographic reference sources are maps and atlases, such as the Rand McNally Road Atlas, or the World Atlas. Sometimes atlases are used to present information over time or on a particular theme, for example the Atlas of Women in America, or the Historical Atlas of the Middle East. Another type of geographic reference source is a gazetteer, such as the Columbia Gazetteer of the World, which is a list of place names, and includes information such as population, longitude and latitude.
