Evaluation

i A <”counseling evaluation tool”> offers competency criteria for a role-play exercise for interviewing skills in a counseling situation.

Interpersonal communication skills are of course relevant to applied psychology, education, counseling, etc.  By the nature of the skills involved, most evaluation tools are self-reports or peer reports. 


i For example, the following study available online through Ohiolink reports on a self-evaluation instrument “of thoughts and behaviors during conversations with others to determine degree of involvement and participation”.  The instrument can be reconstructed from the report.  Cegala, D.J. “Interaction Involvement,” Communication Education, 30:2, (1981):  108-121.


Speech Anxiety

i The <”Personal Report of Communication Apprehension> [pdf file] is a self-assessment tool that helps students reflect on their progress in coping with speech anxiety that can be adapted to interpersonal settings.
